Hope you had a fulfilling week! Mine wasn't the best but it was better than last week so I'll take it!

I am currently in love with this dress. I bought it to wear in the fall but it didn't exactly fit right back then. I've been trying to eat healthy and workout more (which is so hard..why is it so hard?) and since then have been able to fit into the dress more comfortably! I know this color is more traditionally for fall or winter but I couldn't care less. I love how comfy it is. Do y'all have something that you like to wear regardless of the "appropriate" season? Let me know!

Easter Sunday Sunshine

I know this is a week late, but pre-planning posts is a thing and this is actually what I wore on Easter Sunday. 

I can't begin to tell you how much fun we had that day. After serving in the nursery and squeeeezing ourselves into the second service, we spent the rest of the day lounging by our friends' pool just enjoying the sun. It was such a beautiful day. Full of light in more ways than one!

Brown Girl Reading

Hey my friends!

I hope you all are having a great week! I know I am. Nothing particularly special about it (other than warmer temperatures, thank you Jesus), I just decided to be happier this week. I'm doing things I love and working out more. Notice how those two are not the same. 

One thing that I love and don't do enough of is reading. I have loved to read since I was a little girl and my mom took me to the library every Friday. Now that I'm older, I find other things demanding the attention that reading once owned. So while I still love it, I've found that picking up a book is something I do only every couple months. I've told myself to be better and read more than a few good books this year.

 Brown Girl Dreaming has become a favorite of mine. I picked it up in Barnes and Noble, read a couple lines, and bought it immediately. It's that good y'all. Jackie Woodson does a beautiful job of telling her life story as a young African American girl growing up in the South during the 60s. And she does it in free verse. I cried several times at how wonderful she is at capturing feelings with just a few words. Ugh, so good.

Sunday Brunch

Hey my friends!

I hope you are having a terrific Tuesday. Today I'm bringing a pretty simple look I wore this past Sunday. It actually isn't what I had intended to wear that day but... 

You know how sometimes you'll be getting ready with plenty of time and then you look at the clock and you should have left 5 minutes ago? That happened and I seriously just threw this on. I like it though. Comfy neutrals paired with a hint of color. It turned out to be perfect for brunching and catching an afternoon movie. 

Speaking of which, have y'all seen Selma yet? I highly recommend it. I was blown away at how powerful of a performance David Oyelowo gave as Dr. King. 100% inspirational.

Father's Day Activities

Happy Wednesday! 

So I don't know about your father but mine hates being in pictures. He would always volunteer to take our family photos so he could avoid actually being in them. He's harder to catch in a photo than Bigfoot. I do have one photo. Just one good one of the two of us, but alas he would murder me if I put it up. So here it is haha! 

He is giving me advice in this pic. I can always depend on him to know the answer, it's one of the many things I love about him. 

So this Sunday, the hubs and I treated him to a yummy shish kabob (sp?) dinner and had fun times with my family. 

Back to what I wore for the day: Super comfy and I felt fab all day. There's even a little pattern mixing in there! Can you spot it? (Yeah I know you can't 'cause these pics are super grainy. I need good camera recommendations)

Hey my friends!

I will be posting pretty sporadically for the next week or so since life at work is miserable. I was so grateful for the tiny break I got yesterday. 

The hubs and I spent our Memorial Day with some friends walking in the park (in the pouring rain. Notice my lovely umbrella?), demolishing a yummy fishbowl, and then playing games for the rest of the evening. I kept my outfit pretty simple. Just a bright dress, flats, and big hair. I'm really trying to master the "effortless" look. See how I have effortless in quotations? Yeah. It's harder than it should be. I hope you also enjoyed your holiday!

Mother's Day Weekend

Hey my friends!

I feel like it's been awhile. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend with your mothers or those most like mothers in your life!

Not only did I spend the weekend with my awesome mother and mother in law; I also went to a crawfish boil and binged on Netflix spent some quality time with the hubs. Here are some pics from the rather rainy, cloudy weekend:

I wore the Merona cardigan I got from Goodwill last weekend and paired it with my cobalt shoes (Old Navy) and peacock earrings (gifted). I'm really loving this look!

But can I tell y'all about this crawfish boil?? I've eaten crawfish before and recently had a restaurant style crawfish boil experience (The Crab Shack outside of Savannah, Ga. Try it out if you're ever nearby!). But I have never been to a true, Louisiana boil. My friend's parents brought everything up from their home in South Louisiana and showed us how it's done. The boil included onions, garlic, corn, potatoes, celery, sausage, mushrooms, spices (like spicy spices), and of course crawfish. When they were done cooking, we tossed everything out on two tables and stuffed our faces. My life will never be the same. Everything was amazing! If you don't have friends from Louisiana that you can ask to do this, make some. Trust me.

Finally, I have to show you what happened to my hair that day (the last of the twist out). It was incredibly humid out so... fluffy city!! I got several compliments on it so I'm cool with it.

Adding More Color

Hey my friends!
This past weekend I attempted thrifting for the first time. This is definitely not to say that I have never been in a Goodwill or Salvation Army before. My mom used to take us there for back to school shopping (she is the one who taught me the love of a good bargain). I even shopped there in my high school/college days back when random graphic shirts were all anyone was wearing... Now that I truly think about it, I supposed I've been "thrifting" all my life. So forget my first sentence.

I got some colorfully darling things this weekend at enviable prices. On Friday afternoon, my boss told me that the Target near our office was closing. True Target lover that I am, I lamented for a few minutes until she told me that everything already on clearance was an additional 30% off! So here's what I got after work:

So the Star Wars shirt was not on sale but it was Star Wars weekend and I had a gift card. Only $19 for everything!

Then Saturday afternoon, I headed to the Goodwill store (inspired by the Goodwillista) to find some new goodies. I was quickly surprised at how much stuff I eventually piled into my cart. I can only imagine why people donate some of the stuff they do, but I was very grateful for it! Only $20 for everything!The only thing not pictured is a cute cardigan that I will include in one of my outfit posts this week.

Yes, those are pears on those shorts. Adventurous!

I don't know who would willingly give this skirt away. This picture does not give it justice. Creamy lace, gorgeous!!
