Packing for 2 weeks In Europe

Hey my friends!
The time is almost here! Lodgings booked! Tickets bought! Now it's time to pack.
This is actually one of the hardest parts of planning a trip for me. I'm feeling pressured to look extra good because, you know, Paris. So I have this dilemma of wanting to bring my whole wardrobe with me but only wanting to travel with a carry-on. #girlprobs
Then I researched (yes, I'm the lamest) the street styles of the places we'll be and I noticed that most of their looks aren't always 100% statement pieces. Just simple outfitss with an interesting accessory or pattern. Honestly, this is pretty common knowledge but I have to talk myself down sometimes. I can do this guys. Here's what I decided to do!

Ok. So I know it looks like a lot but it's not I swear! Basically, I've picked pretty neutral basics: black/grey/yellow/striped/chambray tops, black/blue jeans, black/rust dresses.
And then I'll add interest with a sweet leather jacket or some patterned scarves!  I allowed myself three stand alone pieces: a gorgeous watercolor tank, a red maxi skirt and my favorite black and gold dress (fancy nights!).
I tested this out in my carryon-ish suitcase and it all fits now...we'll see what happens on the trip home!

Currently Craving: Fall Layers

Hey my friends!!
This is the time of year that I'm most excited about. The leaves change, the air gets cooler, and people start to prep for the holidays! I've already started prepping for my favorite holiday (more on that another day).

What I'm especially excited about is updating my wardrobe this fall! I love all the possibilities that come with cooler weather. Layering has a way of elevating an outfit and sometimes it's just not possible in the sweltering summer here in Atlanta. Here are some layers that I'm currently craving:

1. Neutral Tote: I am a sucker for a new fall purse. I love using snake-skin as a neutral. It goes with everything yet is still interesting enough on its own to be a statement piece.

2. Plaid Cape: Channeling Olivia Pope for feminine outwear! Plaid adds a bit of edge.

3. Faux Fur Vest: These look so fun when done the right way! I'm hoping to find one that doesn't make me look like a muppet.

4. Faux Leather Jacket: I'm ashamed to say that I don't own of of these essential items. I honestly don't know why! They look good on anyone and add a touch of 'cool' like nothing else can.

What are you currently craving for fall? Let me know in the comments below!

Here, There, Everywhere

Hey my friends!
I don't know if you know this about me or not but I love to travel. Seriously. On my way home from a getaway, I'm planning the next one. Thankfully, I have lots of fun trips planned for the summer so the wanderlust is somewhat satiated.
I think I'm going to love traveling in this fringe-y cardigan. It's that perfect mix between not too hot and not too cold that keeps one comfortable on a frigid plane or a windy day. I'm sure I could also make it work over a swimsuit!
Have a happy Tuesday and do something that makes you smile.

Pink, Stripes, and Euclid

Hey my friends!
Isn't he just the cutest? I don't know if you can tell how excited he was to be in this photo shoot :-P
I finally found a good way to incorporate these flats into an outfit. Black and white and another pop of color! I tend to over-think things when it comes to style and wearing bold colors can be one of those things. I have to admit that I'm still learning to be myself and just simply wear what I love. It's an ongoing journey my friends. Honestly, who can say that they've got it all figured out?

Valentine's Day

Hey my firends!
Whether you love or hate this holiday, we can all agree that the day after Valentine's Day is pretty awesome. Discount chocolate everywhere!!
The hubs and I like to stay in on Valentine's Day. We find it more romantic to cook a special meal together than try and fight all of Atlanta for a table at a packed out restaurant. This year, since it's on a Saturday we'll probably catch an early movie and then stay in for the rest of the day. Wild and crazy!

I love how feminine this top is. It reminds me of the material and designs of Indian saris. (Which I love, evidenced here)
Paired with this  blazer and heeled boots, this look is great for our special brunch and movie date.

Do you have any special plans this year? Let me know in the comments below!

Summertime Remix

Hey my friends!
Hope you are well. Today I'm remixing some of my favorite summer pieces to create a winter look for work. (Say that 5 times fast). I think it came out well! I honestly can't get enough of this skirt and I wish I could wear it several times a week. Unfortunately, the people I work with would probably start to notice and take up a "She looks nice but doesn't have enough money for other clothes" collection. I digress.
My favorite thing to do to transform any summer look into a winter one is to add tights. They are my best friend during the cold months since I don't particularity like pants. I have several "365" dresses that I keep in my closet because of the tights and boots or tights and heels combination. I hope that never goes out of style.

P.S. See my Rocksbox pieces? I'm wearing the heck out of 'em!

Sunday Brunch

Hey my friends!
I hope you are having a terrific Tuesday. Today I'm bringing a pretty simple look I wore this past Sunday. It actually isn't what I had intended to wear that day but...
You know how sometimes you'll be getting ready with plenty of time and then you look at the clock and you should have left 5 minutes ago? That happened and I seriously just threw this on. I like it though. Comfy neutrals paired with a hint of color. It turned out to be perfect for brunching and catching an afternoon movie.
Speaking of which, have y'all seen Selma yet? I highly recommend it. I was blown away at how powerful of a performance David Oyelowo gave as Dr. King. 100% inspirational.

Casual Friday

Hey my friends!
I hope you have fun things planned for this weekend! Nothing yet for me, but the weekend holds promise. Today's look is inspired by Rosie the Riveter. Just a reminder to myself that I can whatever I want if I put my mind to it. Within reason obviously. Sometimes I need that now and again.
Denim on denim can be a tricky look to pull off. You can either look really trendy or really stuck in the 80s. I think the key is break the look up a bit. I paired dark jeans with the lighter shade top just to keep from looking too monochrome. The leopard belt helps to break it up as well.  What do you think? Would you try this look? I love hearing from you as always!

Winter Maxi

Hey my friends!
What better way to start the week off than with some bright colors in the midst of the drab that is the winter? I used to shy away from bright colors since I thought mixing them was too tricky. And then I started to watch The Mindy Project. Oh, I have found my new style icon! I love the way Mindy mixes colors, patterns, and shapes so uniquely. So I decided to experiment for myself. I love the way this color combination looks! Although, now that I think about it, you can't really go wrong when mixing primary colors. They teach that in preschool..

I want to point out that I love maxis and I'm so proud of myself for creating a winter look with one. Most short girls shy away from maxi skirts, but I honestly couldn't care if it makes me look shorter or not. Who says you have to make yourself look taller to be pretty? Maxi length makes me feel like a princess and every girl deserves to feel like a princess.

Summer Hauls

Hey my friends!
So this post was very much the opposite of the last one. But what is life but yins and yangs? I think I might just be trying to make myself feel better because I really wasn't supposed to buy any of this stuff. You'll soon see why I couldn't resist.

Such great stuff right? I really love the things I got from Goodwill (although I love them all). There is something about sifting through all the junk to find that one gem that everyone else missed. It's such a thrill!
I can't say that I won't buy anything next month because I'm going to London with my brother and obviously* I have get something right??
