Wedding Wear Part 1

Hey my friends!
I love weddings. I really do. I love the romance and fun and community that go along with them. I also love the chance to dress up and dance the night away to cheesy wedding music. This week, I’ll be sharing two of my favorite looks for weddings this year. Especially the ones outdoors!
Disclaimer: Both looks feature this hat because I simply cannot get enough of it!

Don’t you just love the sweetness of this dress? I got it at a clothing swap earlier this year and knew it would be perfect for all sorts of summer activities. I paired it with some floral wedges to keep the look somewhat dressy while maintaining a modest vibe. (TBH, I can’t dance the night away in heels that are sky high!) I think this look will also be perfect for resort dinners later this month (hooray vacay!)

Rocksbox #4 Review

Hey my friends!
I hope everyone had an amazing Easter. The hubs and I had a fun time serving in the nursery at church and hanging with friends after. I was so content with life and knowing that my King conquered death. He's amazing y'all.

I got my 4th Rocksbox in the mail just in time for Celebration Sunday and my colorful outfit. (Coming Soon)
This box is on FIRE!
I love it so much! Every piece is exactly something that I would pick out for myself.

1. Trina Turk Hexagon Bib Necklace: This is such a beautiful necklace! The colors are so fun and tropical. Plus they look great against my skin. I can't wait to experiment with the different ways I can wear this!

2. Anuja Tolia Blue Stone Cuff: Y'all know how I feel about bangles. This one is so pretty and went perfectly with my Easter outfit. I could honestly see myself keeping this one. I'll see how I feel when I get ready to send the box back.

3. Gorjana Leda Studs: I love that these studs are a statement on their own! They curve up in a really feminine way. Not too big but just enough to be noticed.

I'm really happy with this box, especially since the last one didn't really "wow" me. I think I'll be holding on to this one for a while since I like everything so much.
FYI - If you're interested in Rocksbox at all, let me know and I can get you your first month free!

Favorite Irish Tings

Hey my friends!
I hope you are doing well on this St. Patrick's Day. I'm not Irish (not sure actually I have ancestors named Riley...) but there are several things (tings) that come from Ireland that I'm so grateful for!

1. The Boondock Saints (Yes, both of the actors are American but it's the thought that counts)

2. Smithwick's

3. Chris O' Dowd

4. Moone Boy

That's just to name a few! Anything in particular you're celebrating today?

Brown Girl Reading

Hey my friends!
I hope you all are having a great week! I know I am. Nothing particularly special about it (other than warmer temperatures, thank you Jesus), I just decided to be happier this week. I'm doing things I love and working out more. Notice how those two are not the same.
One thing that I love and don't do enough of is reading. I have loved to read since I was a little girl and my mom took me to the library every Friday. Now that I'm older, I find other things demanding the attention that reading once owned. So while I still love it, I've found that picking up a book is something I do only every couple months. I've told myself to be better and read more than a few good books this year.
Brown Girl Dreaming has become a favorite of mine. I picked it up in Barnes and Noble, read a couple lines, and bought it immediately. It's that good y'all. Jackie Woodson does a beautiful job of telling her life story as a young African American girl growing up in the South during the 60s. And she does it in free verse. I cried several times at how wonderful she is at capturing feelings with just a few words. Ugh, so good.
Are you reading anything good? Anything that moves you? Let me know!

Rocksbox #2 Review

I took this pic with my phone!! I'm pretty proud of how it came out y'all.
Hey my friends!
I recently got my second Rocksbox in the mail and I thought I would share its contents with you.

1. Jules Smith Textured Open Cuff - I love this piece. I'm thinking about buying it. I have a thing for bangles and this one looks so pretty on my wrist!

2. Vanessa Mooney  Fairytales Necklace - Ok, I love turquoise and love pendents. So naturally when I saw this necklace on Instagram I added it to my wishlist. When I got it however, I wasn't impressed. It's not actually a pendent. Meaning the turquoise part you see hits right under my clavicle. I don't like that look and probably won't wear it while I have this set. This is their first miss so far.

3. Margaret Elizabeth Three Stone Drops in Labradorite - These earrings are way more beautiful in real life than this picture can show. The stones are translucent with a slight iridescence. They instantly add elegance to any outfit. I will be wearing these as often as I can because there is no possible way I could afford to keep them. Waaaaaaaaay out of my price range.

So there you have it! I'm not sure how to compare this to the first box since that one had two ok pieces that I liked and one that I loved (and kept! Hubs got it as my VDay present.) This one has two pieces that I love and one that I would never pick for myself. Either way, I'm still loving this subscription!

Summertime Remix

Hey my friends!
Hope you are well. Today I'm remixing some of my favorite summer pieces to create a winter look for work. (Say that 5 times fast). I think it came out well! I honestly can't get enough of this skirt and I wish I could wear it several times a week. Unfortunately, the people I work with would probably start to notice and take up a "She looks nice but doesn't have enough money for other clothes" collection. I digress.
My favorite thing to do to transform any summer look into a winter one is to add tights. They are my best friend during the cold months since I don't particularity like pants. I have several "365" dresses that I keep in my closet because of the tights and boots or tights and heels combination. I hope that never goes out of style.

P.S. See my Rocksbox pieces? I'm wearing the heck out of 'em!

My Rocksbox is here!! *Not a sponsored post*

Hey my friends!
I hope you all are having a lovely week. I'm having a busy and cold week, but there are some bright spots here and there to liven things up. One of those bright spots was the arrival of my first ever Rocksbox!

As a lover of Netflix, presents, and sparkle y things all around, I was ecstatic when I found out about this subscription box. (I may or may not have teared up a little) With a membership, you get access to an unlimited closet of designer jewelry! You can see why my reaction is completely appropriate. These are things I could not afford normally! They send you three pieces at a time, you wear those pieces for as long as you want, then send them back when you're ready to get three more pieces! One of the best parts about this is that can buy any pieces you love at a discount. I think I might be tearing up again...
Here's what I got in my first box:

So cute!

It's like Christmas!

I love presents!!

So far I am loving everything they sent. I'm wearing the necklace and bangle to a play tonight. And probably the studs out to a Walking Dead viewing party this Sunday. (Well rounded girl right here y'all)

P.S. I honestly did not get any compensation or gifts from Rocksbox for this post. I get excited about things and I have to share, just asks my hubs. He's been hearing about this all week.

Labor Day Weekend

Hey my friends!
I hope you all had a marvelous 3 day weekend! I know I had a great time as I was finally feeling better.
This weekend, the hubs and I celebrated with some of our dearest friends as they got married! The wedding was beautiful in every way and we couldn't be happier for them.
I have a confession to make. I love the Indian culture. Almost to the point of obsession. I love the music*, the movies*, the food, and especially the clothes. So I was thrilled to get dressed in this elegant chaniya choli for the festivities. Oh, I have never felt more like a princess. To be honest, at first I was worried (since I am obviously not Indian) that I would look ridiculous. But our friend's family is so kind and gave me many compliments! That gave me the confidence I need to twirl and clap and laugh the night away. It was a one of a kind experience and we were truly thankful to be a part of it. Until next time!
