Here, There, Everywhere

Hey my friends!
I don't know if you know this about me or not but I love to travel. Seriously. On my way home from a getaway, I'm planning the next one. Thankfully, I have lots of fun trips planned for the summer so the wanderlust is somewhat satiated.
I think I'm going to love traveling in this fringe-y cardigan. It's that perfect mix between not too hot and not too cold that keeps one comfortable on a frigid plane or a windy day. I'm sure I could also make it work over a swimsuit!
Have a happy Tuesday and do something that makes you smile.

April Showers

Hey my friends!
Never let the rain get you down as long as you have a cute umbrella. Am I right?
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of rain because it means no sunshine. No sunshine depresses me. I am a sun child if there ever was one. But when I think of all the good things rain brings, I have no choice to be grateful for it. Just look at how green the grass is! Thanks, Rain. You're ok.

Favorite Irish Tings

Hey my friends!
I hope you are doing well on this St. Patrick's Day. I'm not Irish (not sure actually I have ancestors named Riley...) but there are several things (tings) that come from Ireland that I'm so grateful for!

1. The Boondock Saints (Yes, both of the actors are American but it's the thought that counts)

2. Smithwick's

3. Chris O' Dowd

4. Moone Boy

That's just to name a few! Anything in particular you're celebrating today?

Brown Girl Reading

Hey my friends!
I hope you all are having a great week! I know I am. Nothing particularly special about it (other than warmer temperatures, thank you Jesus), I just decided to be happier this week. I'm doing things I love and working out more. Notice how those two are not the same.
One thing that I love and don't do enough of is reading. I have loved to read since I was a little girl and my mom took me to the library every Friday. Now that I'm older, I find other things demanding the attention that reading once owned. So while I still love it, I've found that picking up a book is something I do only every couple months. I've told myself to be better and read more than a few good books this year.
Brown Girl Dreaming has become a favorite of mine. I picked it up in Barnes and Noble, read a couple lines, and bought it immediately. It's that good y'all. Jackie Woodson does a beautiful job of telling her life story as a young African American girl growing up in the South during the 60s. And she does it in free verse. I cried several times at how wonderful she is at capturing feelings with just a few words. Ugh, so good.
Are you reading anything good? Anything that moves you? Let me know!

Pinspiration Part 3: Stripes

Hey my friends!
(Can you tell that I've used all the French descriptive words I know for my posts?)
This last pinspiration is what I like to call "simple yet sophisticated". I feel like this look works for both the office and date night. The pin itself was more pirate-y than my creation but I feel like I stayed true to the spirit (Aargh).
I hope you enjoyed this week's series! I know I did. Sometimes I get stuck trying to think up new outfits to post, so it was nice to have a bit of a guideline. I think my next series will be a 10x10 sometime in the spring.
Are there any theme type series that you would be interested in seeing? Are there themes that have worked well for you? Let me know!

One Dress Two Ways: London Edition

Hey my friends!
I hope this Wednesday finds you well. So I was all excited to put together European outfits and take advantage of the glorious 60 degree weather. Fall weather people!! Atlanta still hasn't gotten itself together and fall-ified yet. I thoroughly enjoyed myself the whole time. So much so that I forgot to take pictures while I was there. Sorry my loves, complete brain fart. So here are two of my favorite outfits I wore on a day I need to be casual and then more formal. It's one dress. Such a comfy one too! During the day, I paired it with a tribal patterned cardigan, lace tights, and some short black booties. Perfect for walking around town, snapping photos, shopping, etc.
Later that night we went to see Wicked (It was amazing) and I wanted to look a bit more formal. I swapped my cardigan for a sparkly black sweater and my short black booties to short black heeled booties. Swiped some red lipstick and I was good to go!
I love how versatile the dress turned out to be. It saved me some room in my suitcase as well as made me feel almost like a professional stylista. A girl can dream.
I wish I could go on and on about my trip to London. It was so much fun and there were so many fun things we did. One fun tidbit from our trip. I discovered the Harrods Shoe Heaven. Life Changed.

Hey my friends!
Hope you are doing well. Today I bring you the perfect "I want to look cute but also have a stretchy waistband" dress with polka dots. I wore it for our anniversary lunch (paired with my new favorite shoes) and was so comfy the whole time! You all know that's my motto. Comfy, Cute, and Cheap Thrifty. That's me!

Twofer Tuesday

Hey my friends!
Random Tuesday post :-) I hope this week has been kind to you!
Today I bring not one but two outfits that I love. But let me tell you they do not photograph well. Which is a tragedy because they are both super cute. Just use your imagination if you can't tell :-) Both of these looks are all about my favorite trend this summer. Bright colors! I have had so much fun mixing and discovering new color combinations that I'm surprised I was scared to try it before. I can be so lame sometimes.

The first look is more of a fall look (perhaps a London trip look??) but works well for summer too.

The second look (sorry for the photo quality, it was raining outside but I really really want to take pics) features a maxi skirt I found in a little vintage shop in Atlanta. When I saw it, I fell in love. It's so exotic looking! Like Chiquita Banana! All I need are fruits on my head.

Look #1:
Top: HM
Skirt: Goodwill

Look #2:
Top: Gap via Clothes Swap 2014
Skirt: Vintage
