Wedding Wear Part 1

Hey my friends!
I love weddings. I really do. I love the romance and fun and community that go along with them. I also love the chance to dress up and dance the night away to cheesy wedding music. This week, I’ll be sharing two of my favorite looks for weddings this year. Especially the ones outdoors!
Disclaimer: Both looks feature this hat because I simply cannot get enough of it!

Don’t you just love the sweetness of this dress? I got it at a clothing swap earlier this year and knew it would be perfect for all sorts of summer activities. I paired it with some floral wedges to keep the look somewhat dressy while maintaining a modest vibe. (TBH, I can’t dance the night away in heels that are sky high!) I think this look will also be perfect for resort dinners later this month (hooray vacay!)

Pink, Stripes, and Euclid

Hey my friends!
Isn't he just the cutest? I don't know if you can tell how excited he was to be in this photo shoot :-P
I finally found a good way to incorporate these flats into an outfit. Black and white and another pop of color! I tend to over-think things when it comes to style and wearing bold colors can be one of those things. I have to admit that I'm still learning to be myself and just simply wear what I love. It's an ongoing journey my friends. Honestly, who can say that they've got it all figured out?

Pinspiration Part 3: Stripes

Hey my friends!
(Can you tell that I've used all the French descriptive words I know for my posts?)
This last pinspiration is what I like to call "simple yet sophisticated". I feel like this look works for both the office and date night. The pin itself was more pirate-y than my creation but I feel like I stayed true to the spirit (Aargh).
I hope you enjoyed this week's series! I know I did. Sometimes I get stuck trying to think up new outfits to post, so it was nice to have a bit of a guideline. I think my next series will be a 10x10 sometime in the spring.
Are there any theme type series that you would be interested in seeing? Are there themes that have worked well for you? Let me know!

Pattern Mixing 101

Hey my friends!
I LOVE this look. I actually discovered it in the Target dressing room. I was wearing this dress with a different very plain cardigan while shopping when I picked this one up. When I tried it on over the dress, I was shocked at how great they looked together! I wish pattern mixing always came this easy. Annnndd if you happened to notice, there is another pattern thrown in there! I'm outta control! Do you see it? First person with the correct answer gets no prize of any kind.

Winter Maxi

Hey my friends!
What better way to start the week off than with some bright colors in the midst of the drab that is the winter? I used to shy away from bright colors since I thought mixing them was too tricky. And then I started to watch The Mindy Project. Oh, I have found my new style icon! I love the way Mindy mixes colors, patterns, and shapes so uniquely. So I decided to experiment for myself. I love the way this color combination looks! Although, now that I think about it, you can't really go wrong when mixing primary colors. They teach that in preschool..

I want to point out that I love maxis and I'm so proud of myself for creating a winter look with one. Most short girls shy away from maxi skirts, but I honestly couldn't care if it makes me look shorter or not. Who says you have to make yourself look taller to be pretty? Maxi length makes me feel like a princess and every girl deserves to feel like a princess.

Stripes and Amber

Hey my friends!
I'm feeling inspired and French today. French because of the stripes I'm rocking (ooo la la). I love this shirt. It's comfortable (of course) and so versatile. It's airy enough for spring and cool summer days but thick enough to wear through fall and winter. Another fabulous Marshalls find! I love pairing it with skinny jeans and leggings but this is the first time I wore it with shorts. I think I like it this way. It was a great look for lunch with a girlfriend this afternoon.
I've also been feeling somewhat inspired lately after listening to some encouraging speeches. The most recent one I listened to was by the most wonderful JK Rowling at Harvard. If you don't know who that is, we can't be friends. She is one of the reasons I decided to start my blog, honestly. She is an amazing writer who didn't see success right away but kept going until she achieved her goal. Blew her goals out of the water. In her speech, she touts that failure is necessary in life. I don't know about you, but failure scares me. I've found myself avoiding things because I'm afraid I won't be good at it. But can you really live life like that? I want to look back at my life and know that I was the person I wanted to be instead of wasting time wishing I was that person. Does that make sense? Is this getting to philosophical? Long story short (too late) I know I won't be the best writer or put together the best outfits but I still do these things because I love doing them and I shouldn't be afraid to fail. Ok that's enough for know. I appreciate you lovely people sharing this journey with me!

Father's Day Activities

Hey my friends!
Happy Wednesday!
So I don't know about your father but mine hates being in pictures. He would always volunteer to take our family photos so he could avoid actually being in them. He's harder to catch in a photo than Bigfoot. I do have one photo. Just one good one of the two of us, but alas he would murder me if I put it up. So here it is haha!

He is giving me advice in this pic. I can always depend on him to know the answer, it's one of the many things I love about him.
So this Sunday, the hubs and I treated him to a yummy shish kabob (sp?) dinner and had fun times with my family.
Back to what I wore for the day: Super comfy and I felt fab all day. There's even a little pattern mixing in there! Can you spot it? (Yeah I know you can't 'cause these pics are super grainy. I need good camera recommendations)

Stripes and Red Lips

Hey my friends!
I have spent several hours now, pouring over Polyvore for inspiration. Lately, I just feel like all of my outfits and ideas have been incredibly boring. I put on an outfit, look in the mirror, and think "Well it's better than nothing or pajama pants." So today, I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and gain some inspiration. Like everything else, personal style takes practice. Stop practicing and you become lazy and settle for less than fabulous. So I did my research, created some Polyvore sets, and challenged myself to be better about dressing in a way that I can be proud of. This is my favorite set of the evening. So me!

What about you? Do you ever struggle to put together an effortless look without looking like you have no idea? What do you do for inspiration?
