Tuesday Blues

Hey my friends!
I hope this week is finding you well! My week is starting off pretty hectic/stressful but by the end I'll be sipping on something cold with my toes in the sand. I wish every week could end like that!
Normally when I have a hectic day at work, I take some time to browse through the closest mall on my lunch break. That can be both a good and a bad thing. Bad for my bank account but good for my soul. Retail therapy is a thing, friends. It was on such a trip that I found these shoes. It definitely made my day a little brighter to bring these babies home with me!
Is there any you do when stressed? When I'm not near a mall I love to crank up some music and dance like crazy. Try not smiling while you do that. Impossible.

Pink, Stripes, and Euclid

Hey my friends!
Isn't he just the cutest? I don't know if you can tell how excited he was to be in this photo shoot :-P
I finally found a good way to incorporate these flats into an outfit. Black and white and another pop of color! I tend to over-think things when it comes to style and wearing bold colors can be one of those things. I have to admit that I'm still learning to be myself and just simply wear what I love. It's an ongoing journey my friends. Honestly, who can say that they've got it all figured out?

Fare thee well

Hey my friends!
No I'm not ending my blog, so you can stop freaking out. (Although I'm so flattered you care!)
Have you ever had a piece of clothing that you loved, but after a few seasons gets less and less use? You see it every day in the back of the closet and tell yourself that you couldn't possibly part with it out of loyalty and not because you actually still wear it?
This is my current state with these wedges. I bought them several seasons ago to wear to a wedding and loved them. They're surprisingly comfortable and made every outfit super chic. Not to mention that the color was the closest to actual "nude" for my skin tone.
But lately, I honestly haven't had the desire to wear them. They've been taking up space in my closet and I've been too sentimental to let them go.
But it's time friends. So I'll say goodbye and remember them fondly.

Goodwill Sweater

Hey my friends!
My good friend Ashley is a sweetheart and volunteered to take some pics for Alysia Ave! She's amazing at this. I don't know what I did to have a friend like her around!
Can you believe I found this sweater at Goodwill? Find of the century, right? I say "century" because I've had this for years. Like more than a decade. I would love to say that I'm the same size I was when I was 18 but who am I kidding? This fits more like a crop top! So paired with this high-waisted midi skirt, I can still rock it.
Do you have any pieces you've had to rethink over time? How do you style them? Let me know!

Pinspiration Part 1: Noir

Hey my friends!
I decided to take this week to try to recreate some of my favorite looks from Pinterest. I love that site. It's where I go to get outfit ideas on days I'm not feeling very creative. I can spend hours doing "research".
Today's look is quite simple. I feel like Audrey Hepburn! I don't think I would have put this outfit together on my own. I love all black outfits but sometimes it can get to look like you're on your way to a funeral. I usually try to break it up with some color somewhere. Bright shoes or accessories. What do you think? All black everything? Or does it need some color? Let me know!

Valentine's Day

Hey my firends!
Whether you love or hate this holiday, we can all agree that the day after Valentine's Day is pretty awesome. Discount chocolate everywhere!!
The hubs and I like to stay in on Valentine's Day. We find it more romantic to cook a special meal together than try and fight all of Atlanta for a table at a packed out restaurant. This year, since it's on a Saturday we'll probably catch an early movie and then stay in for the rest of the day. Wild and crazy!

I love how feminine this top is. It reminds me of the material and designs of Indian saris. (Which I love, evidenced here)
Paired with this  blazer and heeled boots, this look is great for our special brunch and movie date.

Do you have any special plans this year? Let me know in the comments below!

Summertime Remix

Hey my friends!
Hope you are well. Today I'm remixing some of my favorite summer pieces to create a winter look for work. (Say that 5 times fast). I think it came out well! I honestly can't get enough of this skirt and I wish I could wear it several times a week. Unfortunately, the people I work with would probably start to notice and take up a "She looks nice but doesn't have enough money for other clothes" collection. I digress.
My favorite thing to do to transform any summer look into a winter one is to add tights. They are my best friend during the cold months since I don't particularity like pants. I have several "365" dresses that I keep in my closet because of the tights and boots or tights and heels combination. I hope that never goes out of style.

P.S. See my Rocksbox pieces? I'm wearing the heck out of 'em!

One Dress Two Ways: London Edition

Hey my friends!
I hope this Wednesday finds you well. So I was all excited to put together European outfits and take advantage of the glorious 60 degree weather. Fall weather people!! Atlanta still hasn't gotten itself together and fall-ified yet. I thoroughly enjoyed myself the whole time. So much so that I forgot to take pictures while I was there. Sorry my loves, complete brain fart. So here are two of my favorite outfits I wore on a day I need to be casual and then more formal. It's one dress. Such a comfy one too! During the day, I paired it with a tribal patterned cardigan, lace tights, and some short black booties. Perfect for walking around town, snapping photos, shopping, etc.
Later that night we went to see Wicked (It was amazing) and I wanted to look a bit more formal. I swapped my cardigan for a sparkly black sweater and my short black booties to short black heeled booties. Swiped some red lipstick and I was good to go!
I love how versatile the dress turned out to be. It saved me some room in my suitcase as well as made me feel almost like a professional stylista. A girl can dream.
I wish I could go on and on about my trip to London. It was so much fun and there were so many fun things we did. One fun tidbit from our trip. I discovered the Harrods Shoe Heaven. Life Changed.

Weekend Outfit: Polka Dots Part 2

Hey my friends!
I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend. I'm helping some friends paint their new place and I'm pretty excited about it. Nothing like being a part of making a new house a home.
The featured outfit today is one of my new favorites. I found the dress during my recent trip to Goodwill (haul post coming soon I promise). Isn't it cute? Topped with a cardi vest makes it a perfect outfit for a day gallivanting the streets of Savannah.
Note on the theme this week. I wasn't trying for a theme at all (other than weekend in Savannah but that couldn't be helped) I didn't realize how polka dotty my weekend would be until I was unpacking at the hotel. It's like my themed blog posts were writing themselves. Or......we could just say that I am a subconsciously creative genius. Whatever it is, it worked out well.
